Carnaval mask, 'Night Spirit'

Eleonora Dobbin, a researcher of indigenous cultures of the world, hand-crafts this splendid papier-mache mask with a painted motif inspired by Australian Aborigine body painting. This piece evokes the festive climate of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, where masks are commonly worn by sambistas, or samba dancers, as well as by other participants in Carnival celebrations.
